Community

We’re putting our money where our community is. Sponsorships, bursaries, grants and workshops to support the Kootenays.

Sponsorships & Donations

Each year we support hundreds of community projects and events in the Kootenays through sponsorships and in-kind donations. If your organization is looking for financial support or prizes for your community event, program or activity, let us know a little bit about your group and what you’re planning.

Education & Leadership Awards

It’s important to us to help people who are interested in education and personal growth get the opportunities they deserve. We reward students in high school, post-secondary and continuing education with sponsorships and awards each year.

Community Champs Bursaries

If you're a Kootenay-area Grade 12 or post-secondary student who jumps at the chance to give back to your community, we want to hear from you! What are you doing to make a difference? Are you volunteering? Working with community groups? Mentoring peers or younger students? Tell us your story and you could win $2,000 for your education. Six bursaries will be awarded this year. One could be yours!
Applications are now closed for 2023.  We'll be in touch with all applicants in the coming weeks.

CUFBC Bursaries

We’re proud to help BC students reach their post-secondary education goals through the Credit Union Foundation of BC Bursary Program. Submit your bursary application today and get help towards funding your future.

High School Bursaries

Every year we show our support to local high school graduates by providing $1,500 bursaries to deserving students who plan to attend a technology, university, college or vocational school. To be eligible to receive a KS Community Foundation Bursary, students or their parents must be members of Kootenay Savings. More information on how to apply for these bursaries is available at your high school office.

YES Camp Sponsorships

The YES Camp at Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island is an incredible experience for teens aged 14-18. Each year, we sponsor local Kootenay kids to attend the camp for an action-packed week of fun, learning and adventure. With fun games, events and activities campers are sure to make friends and memories that will last a lifetime.

Community Foundation

Since awarding its first grant in 2000, the Kootenay Savings Community Foundation has invested millions of dollars into non-profit cultural, economic, educational, environmental, health and social projects and initiatives in the Kootenays. Together with our partners, we’re working to make the Kootenays even better.

Funding Criteria

Community projects must be not-for-profit and free of political, racial, religious or gender bias, and be of benefit to a community or communities served by Kootenay Savings. Applications seeking funding for research, surveys and/or studies, salaries, wages and/or employee benefits will not be considered.

Application Deadlines

Applications must be received by the Kootenay Savings Community Foundation before 5:00pm PST on March 31 and September 30 each year. Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.
