Every year we honour and recognize students with education and leadership awards to help with their personal growth and pursuit of continuing education. High school, post-secondary, continuing education students, and parents, can find out more below.

Community Champs

WIN $2000 FOR SCHOOL!

Once again this year, the Kootenay Savings Community Foundation is awarding up to four bursaries, for $2000 each, to local Grade 12 and post-secondary students who show exceptional leadership and an amazing commitment to their communities.

We know there are many remarkable students out there in our grad classes and post-secondary schools!  Tell us about yourself and the amazing work you do to make our world a better place and you could be rewarded with one of our Community Champs Bursaries.

CUFBC Bursaries

Did you know that the Credit Unions of BC Bursary Program awarded over $145,000 in bursaries in 2016?

Kootenay Savings is proud to help BC students reach their post-secondary education goals through the Credit Unions of BC Bursary Program. Submit your bursary application today and get help towards funding your future!

You don’t have to be a credit union member, but joining is easy and you’re eligible to receive a $200 sign-up bonus. Visit https://getyourshare.ca/kscu today.

To qualify for funding, applicants must also meet the following critera:
  • Be able to demonstrate financial need.
  • Reside in BC and be a Canadian Citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or designated as a protected person.
  • Have proof of post-secondary enrolment in an academic, vocational, technical, or technological program and transcripts. Please note: graduate and post-graduate students are not eligible.
  • Enrolment must be in a public Canadian post-secondary institution at the time of application. Applicants attending accredited private institutions will only be considered if their chosen program is not offered at a public institution. In this case, applicants must provide a statement as to why they are not attending a public institution, as well as a receipt for tuition.

KS Bursaries

Every year Kootenay Savings is proud to support its high school graduates by providing bursaries at each of the high schools in our communities.

Eighteen bursaries for $750 each are presented to deserving students who plan to attend a technology, university, college or vocational school. Students or student's parents must be members of Kootenay Savings.

YES Camp

Looking for an adventure you'll never forget? Look no further!

The YES Camp at Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island is an amazing life-changing experience for teens age 14 to 18, and once again Kootenay Savings wants to sponsor FOUR Kootenay teens to attend the camp for an action-packed week of fun, learning and leadership.

Focusing on co-operation, communication, leadership, and self-esteem, participants come home with a new perspective, new skills and the confidence to be a leader in their communities.  With tons of fun games, events and activities - including canoeing, hiking, swimming, talent shows, ultimate frisbee, and arts and crafts - campers are sure to make friends and memories that will last a lifetime.
