Call for Nominations

We’re currently seeking nominations of qualified candidates to represent our membership and run for election to our Board of Directors. Our Board of Directors helps ensure the long-term success of the credit union. They help the credit union and its subsidiaries plan for the future and move toward established goals.​

If you are interested in pursuing a seat on our Board, please review our Nomination Package and complete and submit the required Nomination Forms.

Nomination Forms must be received no later than noon PST on Friday, December 10, 2021. To submit your official nomination, please follow the steps outlined in the Nomination Package. Please be sure to allow adequate time to prepare and submit your documentation.

2022 Board Positions

In 2022, there are 6 positions up for election. They are as follows:

  • Area B Region Rep, three-year term
    • Represents Castlegar, Nelson, Salmo, Grand Forks, Christina Lake and Central Kootenay Electoral Areas A, E, F, G I and J and Kootenay Boundary Electoral Areas C and D.
  • Area C Region Rep, one-year term
    • Represents Nakusp, New Denver, Silverton, Kaslo, Slocan, Nelson and Central Kootenay Electoral Areas D, H and K.
  • Area D Region Rep, three-year term
    • Represents Kimberley, Cranbrook, Invermere, Radium Hot Springs and East Kootenay Electoral Areas C, E, F and G.
  • Director At-Large, one-year term
  • Director At-Large, three-year term
  • Director At-Large, three-year term

Skills & Qualifications

To best fulfill its governance mandate, the Board of Directors has identified seven general areas of expertise that Directors should collectively possess – Governance, Finance, Legal, Human Resources, Area [Regional] Knowledge, Information Technology, Industry Knowledge and Investment & Lending. 

For 2022, the Board is seeking candidates with skills, background, and experience in the following areas:
  • Finance: Experience and knowledge in finance and accounting, with an understanding of financial analysis concepts and tools.
  • Information Technology: Familiar with IT systems in the financial sector, knowledge in the area of cybersecurity, and aware of the risks associated with technology.
  • Investment & Lending: Experience and knowledge in the lending and treasury fields, specifically in the context of a financial institution.

2022 Director Elections

If the number of qualified nominees is less than or equal to the number of Board positions to be filled, the validated nominees shall be declared elected by acclamation.

If the number of qualified nominees exceeds the number of positions to be filled, an election will be held from April 18 to 22, 2022. Members will have the option to vote at any Kootenay Savings branch, online, or by mail-in ballot.

Nominees and the Board of Directors shall be informed of the election results immediately following the ballot count and official election results will be announced to the membership at the Annual General Meeting.
